The Bemerton Heath BrigadeChildren at Bemerton Heath reach new heights

Children living on a Salisbury estate tried out an extreme sport with a difference this summer holiday.

In a bid to get youngsters out and active, Salisbury City Council invited the Great Big Tree Climbing Company to Bemerton Heath for an afternoon with children aged three and over. The event was part of Folly Week – a series of events focused around conservation and enjoyment of the area.

Mark Annetts, assistant manager of the neighbourhood centre in Bemerton Heath, said: “The children had a great time, got some good exercise and had the sense of achievement at learning to climb with ropes and reaching the top before zip-wiring down.”

Around 30 children aged three and over took part in the activity on July 27.
