Frequently asked questions
Please see below for a list of frequently asked questions.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive at the Visitor Reception 10 minutes before the time stated on your ticket. This will allow you enough time to follow the signs to the tree.
What is the minimum age to enter the event?
For Tree Climbing We recommend participants be six years old or above. The technique taught is slightly complex and younger children are unlikely to grasp the concept. We can permit six year olds to take part. However activities will be heavily modified should they fail to understand the technique. For the Zip Wire we have a minimum age range of 4 years old and a maximum age range of 8 years old.
I am accompanying my children, do I have to buy a ticket for myself?
No, you only need to buy one if you are planning to participate in the climbing. If you plan just to watch you do not need a ticket.
Is it suitable for adults?
Yes it most definitely is. Furthermore we thoroughly recommend adults participate alongside the children they are accompanying.
How physically demanding are the activities? What clothing should be worn?
Our climbing technique does require you to have a reasonable level of physical fitness. The majority of work is done with your legs but participants are required to be active and healthy. We advise people to wear long trousers and trainers. Tshirts or long sleeved tops can be worn depending on the weather. We advise long trousers to be worn because some of the areas that we tree climb have deer tic’s which can carry Lyme’s disease. It is important that you check your children the evening that you have tree climbed and make sure they do not have any tic’s on them. We advise you to consult with a doctor if you find a tic anywhere on your child.
I or my child has a disability or learning difficulties, are these activities suitable?
We are very keen to be as fully inclusive with our activity as we can.
Please contact the event organiser in advance through [email protected] or phone 0800 0556760 discuss your situation.
How can we book this for a birthday party?
If you wish for your birthday party to be completely private then you should book all eight spaces in the hour slot, regardless of if you have less than eight people participating in that hour. If you wish for the party to last two or three hours book all of the slots in those consecutive hours. Groups should contain a maximum of multiples of eight, depending on the number of consecutive hours they have booked.
Can I take photos on the day?
Of course you can! We encourage you to share your best ones on our Facebook page too. If you sign our photo permission slip we may take photos of you or your children and put them on Facebook.
What if the weather is poor on the day?
We will only postpone the day in the event of high winds, thunder or lightening or extreme weather conditions. In such a case a full refund will be given.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Onsite parking is available and free of charge.
Do I have to pay an entry fee to the site?
For non-National Trust members an additional entry fee applies. National Trust members enter the site under their membership.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You can save the confirmation email on your smart phone or tablet, if you do not have one of these then printed confirmation is required.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
That is fine. As long as you can quote the name of the individual who bought the ticket.
I’m struggling to complete payment, why is this?
Some buyers have experienced problems when booking on smartphones or tablets.
It could be possible that the online booking system has closed. It generally closes 90 minutes prior to the start of an event day.
The event may be full.
Do I have to pay with paypal?
Unfortunately we are unable to process advance bookings with anything other than paypal. It takes only minutes to set up and is extremely secure.
Can I get a refund once I have purchased my ticket?
You can cancel your ticket at any time up to 48 hours prior to an event starting and receive a full refund less a £5.00 admin fee. Unfortunately, after that time we cannot offer refunds unless we have cancelled or postponed the event.
Can I change my ticket for another time or date?
This is only possible if a) reasonable notice is given and b) an alternative time is available. We cannot guarantee that an alternative time is available.
What if I want to book a last minute slot?
Please contact the event organiser on 0800 0556760 . If the event is not sold out he/she may be able to take manual bookings over the phone.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Either email [email protected] or phone 0800 0556760. Please do not expect an immediate reply. It is likely our event organisers are onsite at your time of calling so please allow some time for them to respond to voicemails or emails.
